This past September we started our homeschool year with lessons about Creation. You can read about Day 3 here. Day 4 was another fun day of discovering how God made our world.
Preschool Creation Lesson – Day 4
New International Version (NIV)
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
As I read Genesis 1:14-19, I made a paper plate sun and moon and as I was reading I held up each one.
- Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
- Oh, Mister Sun
- Seven Days of Creation Song
- God of Wonders
All songs can be downloaded in a downloadable printable here.
Go Along Books:
- The Planets, Gail Gibbons
- Energy from the Sun, Allan Fowler
- The Sun is My Favorite Star, Frank Asch
We made a sun out of a yellow paper plate and triangles. We stapled a paper plate moon (white and black paper with star stickers) on the back. I took Luke outside after bed (fun surprise for him!) and we laid on the hammock and looked up at the stars. We sang songs and whispered to each other. Such a fun memory.
“The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.” – Galileo
