Oatmeal in the Crock Pot


Every evening I throw together oatmeal in the Crock Pot (3 ingredients!) and we enjoy the warmest, creamiest breakfast when we awake. It’s really easy and nutritious! I create a double boiler out of my Crock Pot so I don’t have to clean the big awkward crock every time. I use a handled Pyrex 4 cup measuring bowl and pour about 2 inches of water into the Crock Pot. This also reduces burning and caked on food the next morning.

Oatmeal in the Crock Pot


  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Steel Cut Oats (don’t use quick or rolled oats – has to be steel cut!)

Put all three ingredients in a 4 cup bowl (I use a Pyrex measuring bowl) and stir. Fill the Crock Pot with 2 inches of water. Place the bowl down into the water and turn the Crock Pot on low for 8-10 hours. Yum!


  • Dried Fruit
  • Nuts
  • Brown Sugar or Honey
  • Flax Seed
  • Cinnamon




I like to keep the fixings out so we can easily grab them and mix them in when we are ready to eat.
